Fairplay Golf Course sits deep in the Cádiz countryside near Benalup-Casas Viejas, with views over the La Janda valley and the wooded slopes of the Los Alcornocales natural park. Designed by Baron Paul Rolin and opened in 2001, the course was remodelled and reopened in 2017, giving it a layout that plays with a maturity well beyond its years.
This par-73 test is a rare find on the coast: five par 5s, generous length, and large, undulating greens that reward precision as much as power. Lakes run through the round and shape the strategy on hole after hole, while mature trees frame the fairways and dictate the line into the green. The par-3 10th, with its open view across the whole valley, is one to remember, and low handicappers playing from the back tees will find plenty here to test them.
The course sits within the Fairplay Golf & Spa Resort, giving golfers access to a driving range, putting green, locker room and a resident pro, along with the resort's wider spa and dining facilities for the rest of the day. For golfers after a proper technical challenge in unspoilt surroundings, this is well worth building a round around.
