The former Vidamar Resort Hotel Algarve is being rebranded and will reopen as Wine & Books by the Sea Algarve Resort in February 2026. Located beside the Salgados Nature Reserve in Albufeira, the resort retains its privileged setting between the beach and Salgados Golf Course, making it a popular choice for golf holidays in the Algarve.
The new property will offer 250 rooms and suites across a variety of categories, including family-friendly options and sea-view units. Facilities will include six swimming pools, a full spa, gym, kids club, and dedicated event spaces, ensuring a complete leisure and relaxation experience.
Dining will be at the heart of the resort, with five different restaurant concepts ranging from Mediterranean and Italian to Asian and traditional Portuguese cuisine. The design takes inspiration from the surrounding dunes, palm groves, and lagoon, creating a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The brand’s signature bookshelves will highlight the cultural identity of Wine & Books Hotels, complemented by an emphasis on Portuguese wines and gastronomy.
This €12 million investment marks the third opening under the Wine & Books Hotels brand, following Lisbon (2021) and Porto (2024). What guests once knew as the Vidamar Resort Algarve will soon reopen as Wine & Books by the Sea Algarve Resort, offering the same prime location with a renewed focus on comfort, culture, and authenticity.
